Your Day

The day will cover many aspects of both traditional and modern portraiture. The emphasis will be on lighting, whether this is artificial or daylight. Llewellyn will endeavour to show you how to "see the light".

There will be practical demonstrations both in the studio and on location (subject to the weather) and Llewellyn will be demonstrating poses and grouping which he has found to be successful during his 30 odd years of running a successful portrait studio.

Llewellyn will take you through a number of Photoshop techniques and also give practical demonstrations on the use of his favourite imaging software showing you how to avoid the many pitfalls of processing images.

The day is delegate lead and any questions will be welcomed. For those who wish to have some feedback on their work Llewellyn will end the day with a constructive print critique. He does encourage people to bring work along as other delegates will learn from the assessment. For those hoping to go for a qualification, Llewellyn will give an outline of the requirements for producing a panel of work for your qualification assessment.

Your Tutor

Llewellyn Robins Hon FBIPP started working in a portrait studio when he was 15 years old. He completed a course at the London Polytechnic and started his own studio at the age of 22 years. At one time he specialised in photographing works of art and antiques but his first love has always been photographing people. He has lectured in both America and Europe and has won many awards for his portrait photography. Llewellyn has always been keen to uphold the best in photographic standards and has always taken an active roll in the BIPP's qualifications structure. He was honoured for his contribution to the photographic industry in July 2008, when he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the BIPP.
