BIPP 2014 Student & College Awards - NOW OPEN FOR ENTRIES!

This could be your chance to kick start your professional career in photography. The 2014 BIPP Student & College Awards are a unique opportunity for you to showcase your creativity in a portfolio style photographic competition.

This could be your chance to kick start your professional career in photography. The 2014 BIPP Student Awards are a unique opportunity for you to showcase your creativity in a portfolio style photographic competition.

Entry is free for BIPP Student Members and if you are a non member, you can enter the awards at a small fee of £10 (inc VAT) per portfolio. 

Winner of the title ‘BIPP Student Award 2014’ will receive £500 plus exclusive editorial coverage in the Photographer Magazine which is a unique opportunity to be featured in a magazine that showcases some of the best photographers in the profession.  Winner of the title ‘Student Open Award 2014’ (non BIPP Members) will receive a year’s membership as a Friend of BIPP which hosts a whole range of benefits such as the opportunity to network with other photographers and discounts on BIPP Training and weekend courses, alongside editorial coverage in the Photographer Magazine.

How to Enter:

There are four categories in this year’s awards.  They are – Wedding & Portrait, Commercial, Science & Technology and Visual Arts.  You can enter each category as many times as you like.  Each entry should consist of a portfolio of 5 images. So if you enter the Commercial category twice, you’ll need to submit two portfolios of 5 images. 

The work should be fresh and creative and each set of 5 images must sit together as a portfolio.  The images must be 10x8” or A4 prints numbered 1 -5 and any single image can only be used once in the competition.   Each portfolio must include a completed entry form and for non BIPP members ONLY, a payment of £10.

The BIPP 2014 College Award

If you’re a final year student studying on a BIPP Approved or Accredited course in the UK, the 2014 BIPP College Award is something that may be of interest.  The winning Student will receive £500 alongside editorial coverage in the Photographer Magazine. 

How to Enter:

Speak to your Course Leader who has the ability to nominate ONE student from the course who will go forward for the 2014 BIPP College Award.

The tutor will recommend the person who they feel has excelled throughout the course and achieved the highest standard of work throughout their portfolio.  The course tutor will then submit 12 10x8” prints from the nominee’s printed portfolio, plus a disc of the 12 digital files, along with the name of the College and the student contact details.

Please Note: there will be NO extensions as the entries will be considered for the shortlist for the FEP Emerging Talent Award.


NEW FOR 2014 – FETA – The FEP Emerging Talent Award 

A first for the BIPP College award – the top 4 portfolios from the awards will be submitted, free of charge, to the European FEP Emerging Talent Award, the leading European Award for photographic students and young photographers.

Your work will be judged against photographers from across Europe.  The winner of “The Emerging Talent Award” will receive a certificate and merit winners will receive a merit certificate.  All those who receive awards will be invited to collect their prize at an event in Europe and FEP will contribute to your travel expenses.
