12/06/09 It's Payback time!
· The highest payment to an individual was £5450 · The average payment to an individual was £236 · The minimum payment is always set at £25 for successful claims This year's Payback campaign launches at the beginning of July and you have until 30 September 2009 to make your claim - so don't miss out! Where do Payback royalties come from? Payback royalties come from revenue generated through various collective licensing schemes. Collective licensing is used in situations where it would be difficult or near impossible for you as the creator to licence your rights on an individual basis, for example, when an individual wishes to photocopy a page of a book which features your work. If you make a successful Payback claim we will pay you a share of this revenue in December. "It's a win-win situation. Once you've had a successful Payback claim, you can claim for the same published work every year, so the size of your claim could increase if you have new work." says Nicolas Watkins-Wright, DACS Payback Manager. Successful Payback claimant John Simmons says: "It certainly helps us beat the crunch just at the right time!" For further information about Payback or to request a paper copy of the claim form please contact us on 020 7553 9062 or email . From the beginning of July you can also claim online at www.dacs.org.uk. |
