We are providing Portfolio Reviews at Focus on Imaging at the Birmingham NEC from 4 – 7 March. Portfolio Reviews provide a unique opportunity for photographers to gain face to face advice on their work from highly experienced photographers with a wealth of industry knowledge.

Russell Baston FBIPP
Russell has many years’ experience as a professional photographer. Having served as an ‘in plant’ (or in-house) photographer for numerous companies, he has also lectured extensively, including BA courses at Northumbria University. As Education Adviser to the British Institute of Professional Photography he is responsible for the BIPP’s validation process of several university and college courses in the UK, ensuring their photographic courses meet the professional standards of the BIPP. Russell also continues to work as a photographer and is a BIPP Qualifications Assessor.

Denise Swanson FBIPP
Denise Swanson has been a professional photographic artist for almost 10 years. With influence from a background of 20 years in graphic design and marketing, Denise's images have developed a unique artistic style that have earned numerous awards and recognition. Her images have been used as book and CD covers and been published in various journals worldwide whilst fine art prints have been bought by collectors in the UK, Europe and the United States.
Since gaining an MA in Fine Art, Denise has been awarded a Fellowship by the British Institute of Professional Photography and has become an Approved Assessor. She gives talks and runs workshops and training courses on fine art photography.

Since gaining an Honours Degree in Photographic Studies from the University of Derby, Mike has worked for a variety of photographic companies. These include the prestigious Cheshire Studios, where he learnt the art of wedding photography; Manchester Press where he gained much experience in Press and Public Relations photography and Carlton Studios in Manchester, which produced photographs for the catalogues of many mail order companies, including Great Universal Stores. Mike now works as a freelance photographer from his base in the Highlands of Scotland.

Kevin Wilson is based in a gallery in Wimborne, Dorset specialising in location portraiture and weddings, of which he holds Fellowship in both with the BIPP. Kevin has been awarded a Gold award from the BIPP in Location Portraiture, plus a coveted Gold award in the Weddings category in 2010.
Kevin holds 17 Kodak European Gold Awards for wedding and Portrait photography. He has taught numerous workshops and currently acts as a BIPP mentor as well as a Qualifications Assessor for the BIPP.
Kevin is the only photographer to have achieved two fellowships in social photography, one in wedding, the other in portraiture throughout the 108 year history of the British Institute of Professional Photography.
