How to join?

Membership of the British Institute of Professional Photography is open to full or part time professional photographers from all disciplines.

There are various ways of joining the BIPP and becoming a BIPP Qualified Member, dependant on your individual circumstances:

Qualified membership

If you have been working as a professional photographer for some time and feel you are ready to submit your work for qualification straight away, you can apply for Qualified Membership. We recommend candidates show their work to a Fellow who is aware of the current qualification standards before submitting their work.

In order to become a qualified member, you need to submit twenty pieces of work which are assessed by a panel of judges from the Professional Photography Qualifying Board (PPQB). Qualification days are held throughout the year for Licentiateship. As soon as you have successfully passed the Licentiate qualification, you will be eligible to use the letters LBIPP after your name. More>>

Photographers who work in any specialised areas like medical photography, ministry of defence, government or public service should contact the CPD administrator  directly to discuss the best route to membership for their area of expertise.

Affiliate membership

If you would like to join whilst you are working towards your qualification, the new Affiliate Membership is also available. Affiliate membership suits the less experienced photographer. Affiliate members benefit from all membership benefits apart from listing in the online and hard copy directories and use of the BIPP logo.
