How to join?
Membership of the British Institute of Professional Photography is open to full or part time professional photographers from all disciplines.
There are various ways of joining the BIPP and becoming a BIPP Qualified Member, dependant on your individual circumstances:
BIPP Membership Application form Direct Debit form
Affiliate Membership - £150pa Affiliate membership is aimed at professional photographers who are looking to gain their qualification with the BIPP.
To join as an Affiliate member please download and complete the application form and return it with your payment to BIPP Head Office along with a CD of 20 images which best reflect your current work (low res files, no more than 5MB approx). Please also include a copy of your Public Liability Insurance and Professional Indemnity Insurance certificates.
No payment will be taken until your application is approved. Should your application be unsuccessful you will be notified and no charges will be made.
Once you have been approved as a BIPP Affiliate member you will have 12 months to gain your BIPP qualification. You may choose to receive free qualifications mentoring from our trained assessors who will offer advice and guidance. You will also be able to attend BIPP training courses at the reduced members' rate as well as receive many other membership benefits, other than those which advertise you as a BIPP member.
Qualified Membership - £150pa If you have been working as a professional photographer for some time and feel you are ready to submit your work for qualification straight away, you can apply for direct entry to Qualified Membership.
In order to become a qualified member, you need to submit twenty pieces of work and a working profile (supporting evidence) which are viewed by a panel of assessors. Qualification Assessments are held regularly throughout the year for Licentiateship & Associateship and twice a year for Fellowship. As soon as you have gained your qualification, you will be able to use the relevant letters (LBIPP, ABIPP or FBIPP) after your name and advertise yourself as a member of the BIPP as well as receive many other membership benefits. Go to Qualifications area.
Specialist Areas Photographers who work in any specialised areas like medical photography, ministry of defence, government or public service should contact the CPD administrator directly to discuss the best route to membership for their area of expertise.
Reinstatement of qualified membership - £50 Assessment Fee If you have previously been a qualified member of the Institute and would like to join again, you will need to submit an application. To apply you will need to submit a completed 'qualified membership' application form, a CD containing 20 recent images for assessment, a valid Certificate of Insurance and payment of the £50 assessment fee. Should your application be successful, you will be reinstated once payment of the annual qualified membership fee (£150) has been received.
Due to Data Protection, we only retain membership records for five years. If your membership ended more than five years ago, we will be unable to reinstate you without a full qualifications assessment. |
